A step-by-step beginner progression guide: what to build, what to unlock, and how to spend every coin and gem from your first wave to the final boss.
The tutorial hands you a Battle Monk and a few coins. Learn where unit slots open first.
Cheap pulls stock you with Rare and Common heroes, which is all a Day 1 build needs.
Extra slots are wasted damage. Expand them as soon as the cost is under 150 coins.
One unit at the first turn of the path out-damages two units on a straight lane.
One slow unit in front, one damage unit behind, so slow lands before the burst.
That reserve is your emergency fund for a leaked wave or an unplanned slot.
| Waves | Coin Target | Build Focus | Hero Play |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1-5 | 0-300 | Two starter units, first corner only | Save abilities for wave 5 |
| 6-10 | 300-800 | First Frost Warden or slow unit | Frost Warden on the grouped wave |
| 11-15 | 800-1,400 | Second lane branch, AoE unit | Flame Caster into the pack |
| 16-20 | 1,400-2,200 | Max the primary damage dealer | Arcane Guardian shield up |
| 21-25 | 2,200-3,000 | Third chokepoint and anti-armor | Titan Slayer on every Titan |
| 26-30 | 3,000-4,000 | Full map coverage, healing support | All abilities, no rotations left |
Coin targets are cumulative totals earned, not money in the bank. If a wave leaks, fall back a row and rebuild.
A monster crossing a corner turns and stops overlapping the unit that hit it, wasting range. Place the unit on the inside of the turn so its range circle covers the exit tile.
When two lanes merge, one AoE unit at the merge point out-damages four single-target units on separate lanes. This is the best placement on Forest Maze maps.
On Highway Hell maps, coverage wins. Spread long-range units down the lane instead of clustering them. A Sniper Elite at the far end fires three times before monsters reach the front line.
| Tier | Waves | What Unlocks | Ready When |
|---|---|---|---|
| Easy | 20 | Basic heroes, first Rare unit slots | You finish without a leak |
| Normal | 25 | Epic gacha banners, Frost Warden copies | One Epic hero, 2,000 coin runs |
| Hard | 30 | Camera Person waves, extra unit slots | Slow plus burst combo works |
| Nightmare | 40 | Legendary banner, Arcane Guardian shards | A Titan dies in under 10 seconds |
Two starter units plus one slow unit. Coins beyond this are hard to replace after a leak.
One maxed AoE damage unit and a second branch. Upgrade the unit that already kills things, not a weak new one.
Full map coverage, anti-armor support, and a 1,000 coin reserve into the final wave.
Gems this small should sit untouched. Skipping waves at 10 gems each burns a whole evening for two minutes.
Extra slots give permanent returns on every run. They beat a single gacha pull.
Hold the gem total for a guaranteed S-tier pull. Only then do skips make sense.
Armored and slow, but it hits for enormous damage. Bring Titan Slayer to strip armor and keep Arcane Guardian shielding the base so one mistake does not end the run.
Freezes your units in place, which is worse than raw damage. Mobile heroes break the lock, and healing keeps frozen units alive while they thaw.
The last wave mixes every monster type and punishes gaps. Stack AoE damage, keep a coin reserve for a panic upgrade, and skip only earlier waves.
| Milestone | Target | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| First clear | Easy, no leaks | Rare unit slot |
| Ten runs | Easy and Normal mixed | Frost Warden copy |
| Epic roster | Three Epic heroes | Extra unit slot |
| Hard clear | 30 waves, Camera Person handled | Legendary banner access |
| Nightmare clear | 40 waves, all bosses | Arcane Guardian shards |
Work the checklist in order, because each milestone shortens every run that follows it.
